Peter is a fourth generation licensed trainer. Foreman to his Group 1 winning father Ian Macdonald for 15 years, who trained Group winners in four states, including an Oakleigh Plate winner and handy stayer FIL DE ROI whom Peter strapped in the Melbourne Cup when it ran 4th, after winning races such as the G2 Herbert Power, Geelong Cup, Werribee Cup, Murray Bridge Cup etc.
Peter has held a trainers license for 5 years training a small team while foreman for Leon Macdonald for 3 years. Peter has had success with his small team with multiple city winners. He is looking to expand his operation with his stables at Morphetville.
Peter had the privilege of training Australian Thoroughbreds first runner, and also our first winner. Peter has done a excellent job with Sachse who was struggling before Peter got him and has really turned this gelding around for a win and a placing from just three starts for us!
